Biography

  • 32 years of insurance experience.
  • Previously held the role of Active Underwriter of both Cathedral Syndicates in 2016 and was responsible for over £400m of capacity: a mixture of specialty insurance and reinsurance business including Aviation, All Risks, Aviation War, Energy, Terror, Direct Property, Cargo, Satellite, Property Reinsurance and Specialty Reinsurance.
  • Headed up the Aviation reinsurance account at Syndicate 566 in 1998.
  • Founding Partner of Cathedral which began trading in 2001, involved in various aspects of the business including capital raising, underwriting, reserving, reinsurance purchasing and strategic planning.
  • Started in the insurance industry as a claims broker at Jardine Thomson Graham in 1988 and later moved to Frankona in Munich, working on both inwards and outwards claims before joining to the reinsurance underwriting team in 1992. Whilst predominantly focussed on Aviation and Satellite reinsurance he was also involved in Marine and non-Marine Treaty reinsurance business.
  • Richard is a member of the LMA Aviation Committee (2004-2016) and a Trustee of the The Lancashire Foundation (2015-2017).
