Belonging at Convex

At Convex, we believe our culture gives us a competitive advantage, and we recognise how important and integrated diversity and inclusion needs to be for a company to be the best it can be, so we go beyond ‘Diversity and Inclusion’, to ensure that a genuine and universal feeling of Belonging is part of our Convex culture.

Individuals with different cultures, perspectives and experiences are what makes Convex special. We provide equal opportunities for everyone at Convex to take advantage of. We recruit, develop and retain the most talented people, regardless of their background and to make the best use of their talents. At Convex we are guided by our values in everything we do and recognise that being a diverse and inclusive employer helps us not just earn our reputation but build a stronger organisation that enjoys being different.

We are developing an environment where we treat all Convexians, irrespective of background, as individuals, in a straight-forward and fair way. We work within the spirit and the practice of the Equality Act 2010 by promoting a culture of respect and dignity and actively challenging discrimination, should it ever arise.

We will do our best to remove unnecessary barriers for Convexians seeking opportunities through training and development, promotion and career planning.

We support all Convexians to demonstrate the principles of belonging in their everyday activities, roles and functions.

Cross Industry Networks

Working with cross industry networks like ICAN (Insurance Cultural Awareness Network) and LINK (The LGBT Insurance Network) help drive our reach for talent and together we have partnered on events to drive awareness and a sense of belonging. In February 2022 we hosted ‘How to be an ally’ with guest speaker Matt Lindley and LINK. In June 2022 we hosted ‘Then and Now. Reflections on Black British History’ in partnership with ICAN. We will continue to work with our networks externally and internally to celebrate inclusion and shed light on key issues.

Haverstock School Partnership

In the UK we have partnered with Haverstock secondary school located in Camden. We felt Haverstock’s ambitions aligned to our values and goal of widening participation in the insurance market and improving social mobility. We are running a number of initiatives including mentoring, insurance masterclasses and a university sponsorship programme with their students. We are incredibly proud of this partnership and the positive impact we hope it creates.

Inclusion Index

Our Inclusion Index is a yearly survey, in which we ask Convexians to answer a series of questions about themselves and how they feel about working at Convex. All survey responses are anonymous. They are stored and analysed by The Equal Group, a third party company we partner with to support this initiative. We do this to give us a better understanding of the sense of Belonging Convexians feel and understand how diverse we are as a business and to use the results to take further action where necessary.

SPARK

Our SPARK engagement survey focuses on individuals engagement and contribution at Convex – how you feel rather than what you think about our company culture. Convexians then receive a personalised, confidential report filled with helpful recommendations to give insight into what makes Convexians feel engaged or disengaged, together with tools and ideas to help you manage your engagement. We also use SPARK to give teams insight and drive change at a functional and company wide level.
